Historical Information
Cobblestone Country FCU has been serving its members for 42 years
but has accomplished the most in its last few years of service.
We have grown from a one room, basic service credit union
to a financial entity that offers multiple services and one-on-one
service to its members.
Starting out as Lipton's Credit Union in 1965, we merged
with the State Correctional Credit Union and then later the
Orleans County Credit Union to become a community charter
that would serve all residents that worked or lived in the
central part of the county. At this time the credit union
was housed in a garage bay that had been converted to a small
office, there were two employees, and we only offered basic
savings that were dispersed by check as very little cash was
handled at that time.
In the last few years our credit union has added many services.
The counter operations were expanded to add cash services
to provide our members with the convenience of not having
to go elsewhere. Checking accounts were offered and the loan
program was expanded to extend larger amounts to the membership
for their needs.
In 1995 we moved to a larger building where our customer
service function was expanded. In 1996 we were granted a low-income
designation that provided us with additional resources such
as low-interest loans, secondary capital, and a counseling
program for our underserved members.
Recent Activities
The year of 2003 was a year of growth and change. Assets
and Share Growth both grew by 4%. Loan growth over the year
was at 5% and Membership grew at 3.5%. We updated our computer
system with the newest Windows technology and updated our
electronic services.
We take great pride in the one-on-one customer service that
we offer our members. Representatives are fast, efficient
and diligent in over-the-counter services, payroll processing,
electronic transactions and checking account reconciliation.
All our services are low or no cost to make them affordable
to all income groups.
The Board of Directors decided to change the name and image
of the credit union since we serve members throughout all
the townships and villages in the county.
We introduced home equity loans in 2002 and our members
took advantage of them. We also continued to offer home mortgages
through our affliate Credit Union Center. Our loan department
in unparalleled in providing services to assist members in
the application process and to also offer counseling in solving
credit problems to help them enhance their creditworthiness. |
